What happens when four university students from across the United States

What happens when four university students from across the United States, all passionate about Korean culture, PR, and marketing, meet in Seoul for the summer?

The answer is an unforgettable journey at HyperM.

During the last week of June, we welcomed three new summer interns to Korea: Chloe Rong and Samantha Wills from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and Kelsey Wong from the University of Oregon. They joined Henna Nellis from Michigan State University, who had already started her internship at HyperM in early June.

Although they came from different universities and backgrounds, they quickly became friends through a shared curiosity about Korea and a common passion for communications. It didn’t take long before they were exploring Seoul together, exchanging ideas, and discovering what makes Korean culture—and Korean communications—so unique.

To kick off their internship, we gave them a simple but meaningful first mission: “Know Your Partner.” Rather than introducing themselves, each intern interviewed a fellow intern and then introduced their new friend from their own perspective. The result was more than just an icebreaker—it was an exercise in listening, storytelling, and understanding another person’s unique strengths and personality. After all, great communicators don’t just tell stories; they discover and tell other people’s stories.

But this internship is about much more than getting to know one another.

At HyperM, our interns are challenged to read trends before everyone else, broaden their perspectives, and deepen their understanding of public relations, marketing, and strategic communications. Throughout the summer, they will take on a variety of missions designed to encourage critical thinking, creativity, and strategic problem-solving.

Most importantly, they are not just observing—they are participating.

Working alongside HyperM consultants, our interns gain hands-on experience supporting real client projects, contributing ideas, conducting research, and experiencing firsthand how an integrated communications agency operates in one of the world’s most dynamic markets.

We believe the best learning happens when curiosity meets opportunity, and this summer is just the beginning.

To Samantha, Chloe, Kelsey, and Henna—welcome to HyperM! We hope this summer inspires you, challenges you, and creates friendships, experiences, and memories that last long after you return home.

Stay tuned as we share more stories from their Korean adventure and internship journey throughout the summer!

Meet Kelsey — her motto for this internship: ‘Abolish any regrets.

Next up is Samantha! A Psychology major at UCLA, and an intern who loves matcha and TWICE

Chloe‘s favorite hobby pick: bright hair color? ‘It was the change that gave me confidence.’

Henna is the early bird of this internship 🐣 Just like the soft pastel tones she loves, she eased in quietly, right from the start.
